That said, here is a look at today’s trends in the world of sports.
- Double-Double: Connecticut Sun F Alyssa Thomas set a new WNBA record with her 24th double-double last night in a loss to the New York Liberty. Thomas had 22 points and 12 assists, but the third-place Sun fell to the second-place Liberty 95-90 in OT.
- Doc and Straw: Dwight “Doc” Gooden and Daryl Strawberry, both integral members of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets, will have their numbers retired by the franchise. The jersey retirement ceremonies will take place next season. Meanwhile, the current Mets are a train wreck. They lost again last night, 7-0 to the Braves.

- Decision time: After this weekend, NFL teams will have to cut their rosters down to 53. That means tons of players are fighting for roster spots. It adds a little to the NFL predictions for the final week of the preseason. You can find those predictions in the SportsHub member’s area.
- Falcons: Falcons is now trending on X (formerly Twitter). There are the Atlanta Falcons, who got drilled by the Pittsburgh Steelers last night 24-0. But, the real trending Falcons are the Super Falcons, the new FIFA No. 1-ranked women’s soccer team in Africa. The US women’s team slipped out of FIFA’s top two for the first time since FIFA introduced the rankings in 2003.
- Anthony Richardson: Named the Colts starting QB, Richardson played last night in the Colts 27-13 win over the Eagles. He flashed moments of his amazing ability, but ultimately went 6-for-17 for 46 yards and ran the ball 5 times for 38 more. The Colts open the 2023 season with Jacksonville at home on Sept. 10.
