Pirates Walk Off Phillies, 3-2

Javier Rivas delivered a walk-off solo home run to complete a three-run ninth inning, lifting the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Bradenton, Fla.

Nick Yorke and Bryce Johnson contributed RBI sacrifice flies before Rivas’ game-winner. Wilkin Ramos (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.

Nick Castellanos drove in both runs for Philadelphia, including a solo homer in the first. Cristopher Sanchez allowed four hits and two strikeouts in five innings.

Tigers Rally Past Twins, 6-5

Detroit erased a 5-0 deficit and scored three in the ninth to defeat Minnesota in Fort Myers, Fla.

Thayron Liranzo worked an 11-pitch walk to load the bases before Ben Malgeri and Brady Allen helped bring in the winning runs. Justyn-Henry Malloy added a two-run single earlier for the Tigers. Troy Watson (1-0) earned the win with a hitless eighth.

Edouard Julien led Minnesota’s offense with two hits and two RBIs.

Red Sox, Yankees Finish in 4-4 Tie

Anthony Volpe had two RBI singles for New York, including one that scored an extra run due to a fielding error, as the Yankees and Red Sox played to a draw in Tampa, Fla.

Masataka Yoshida homered for Boston, while Roman Anthony and Rob Refsnyder drove in late runs to tie the game.

Walker Buehler allowed two runs (one earned) over five innings for the Red Sox, while Max Fried pitched 4 1/3 scoreless frames for New York.

Marlins, Cardinals Tie 4-4

Connor Caskenette’s pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth secured a tie for Miami against St. Louis in Jupiter, Fla.

Nick Fortes and Xavier Edwards added RBIs for the Marlins. Connor Gillispie allowed one run in four innings.

St. Louis took a late lead behind Pedro Pages’ and Jose Fermin’s back-to-back homers. Miles Mikolas threw six innings, allowing three runs on six hits.
