Clemson Edges SMU 34-31 in Thrilling ACC Championship Victory

Nolan Hauser sealed a dramatic win for No. 17 Clemson with a record-breaking 56-yard field goal as time expired, defeating No. 8 SMU 34-31 in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game in Charlotte. Cade Klubnik’s stellar performance included four touchdown passes, helping Clemson claim the victory after a tense finish.

SMU’s Kevin Jennings capped a 79-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Roderick Daniels Jr., tying the game with just 16 seconds left in regulation. However, Clemson’s Adam Randall returned the kickoff 41 yards, setting up Klubnik to deliver a 17-yard pass. Hauser then stepped in to make history with the longest field goal ever in an ACC title game.

Clemson had built a 31-14 lead late in the third quarter after Klubnik connected with Jake Briningstool for a 5-yard score. Briningstool and Bryant Wesco Jr. each scored twice for Clemson, with Wesco recording eight receptions for 143 yards. Klubnik finished 24-for-41 for 262 yards.

SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings threw for three touchdowns and 304 yards on 31-for-50 passing. Brashard Smith rushed for 113 yards on 24 carries, while Daniels tallied eight catches for 97 yards.

Oregon Clinches Big Ten Title With 45-37 Win Over Penn State

Dillon Gabriel led No. 1 Oregon to a hard-fought 45-37 victory over No. 3 Penn State in the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis, likely securing the Ducks the top seed in the College Football Playoff. Gabriel threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns, completing 22 of 32 passes.

Tez Johnson was Gabriel’s primary target, hauling in 11 receptions for 181 yards and a touchdown. Oregon improved to 13-0 and is expected to earn a first-round bye in the upcoming 12-team CFP format.

For Penn State, Drew Allar completed 20 of 39 passes for 226 yards with three touchdowns but was intercepted twice. Running backs Allen and Nicholas Singleton combined for 229 rushing yards, with Allen adding a touchdown.

The loss ended Penn State’s title hopes but likely secured them a CFP first-round home game later this month.


Georgia Tops Texas 22-19 in Overtime to Claim SEC Championship

Trevor Etienne’s 4-yard rushing touchdown in overtime secured a dramatic 22-19 victory for No. 5 Georgia over No. 2 Texas in the SEC championship game. Georgia overcame adversity after starting quarterback Carson Beck was sidelined with an injury at halftime.

Etienne rushed for 94 yards and scored twice, including the game-winner. Gunner Stockton replaced Beck in the second half, throwing for 71 yards but also an interception. Despite the challenges, Georgia (11-2) triumphed for the second time over Texas this season.

Quinn Ewers carried the Longhorns (11-2) with 358 passing yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions, but his efforts weren’t enough to overcome Georgia’s resilient defense.

Arizona State Cruises Past Iowa State 45-19 to Win Big 12 Championship

Cam Skattebo delivered a commanding performance with 170 rushing yards and three touchdowns, leading No. 15 Arizona State to a 45-19 rout of No. 16 Iowa State in the Big 12 title game in Arlington, Texas. The win secured Arizona State a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Skattebo scored twice on the ground and added a receiving touchdown. Quarterback Sam Leavitt contributed 219 passing yards, three touchdowns, and a rushing score. Despite missing star receiver Jordyn Tyson, the Sun Devils (11-2) dominated behind Xavier Guillory’s two touchdown receptions.

Iowa State’s Rocco Becht completed 21 of 35 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns, with Jaylin Noel and Carson Hansen catching scoring passes. Jayden Higgins added 115 receiving yards, but the Cyclones (10-3) saw their playoff hopes dashed with the loss.
