UFC Vegas 74 Preview

When: Saturday, June 3rd 2023

Time: Prelims (6:00 PM ET) / Main Card (9:00 PM ET)

Watch: ESPN/ESPN+ (USA) / TSN (Canada)

There are four ranked fighters in action on Saturday. The main event will feature two of the top flyweights, as Kai Kara-France (#3) will fight Amir Albazi (#7). The other two ranked fighters are Alex Caceres (#15 featherweight) and Tim Elliott (#11 flyweight). Both will be fighting on the UFC Vegas 74 main card.

Let’s jump into my free UFC Vegas 74 picks for the main card:

UFC Vegas 74 Picks

Jim Miller vs. Jesse Butler Free Pick

Fight Odds: Miller (-255) vs. Butler (+205)

Jim Miller (35-17-0-1) is 39 years old, but hasn’t slowed down. Miller is coming off a decision loss against Alexander Hernandez in February, but he had won three consecutive fights prior to the loss.

Jesse Butler (12-4) is making his UFC debut, but he’s 31 years old. He’s on a 5-0 run, including a 3-0 run with Fury FC. However, he’s a featherweight and this fight will be at lightweight on short notice.

Jared Gordon was supposed to fight Miller, but he dropped out yesterday. Butler has eight submission wins, but Miller hasn’t been tapped out since 2018 and that was against Charles Oliveria.

Miller is a defensive fighter (58% striking defense) with the ability to take the fight to the mat (1.56 TDs per 15 minutes) and lock in a submission (19 submission wins). Hernandez landed 108 strikes in the win against Miller last time out, but that was the first time Miller was struck 100+ times in his career.

If Miller comes out of the first round in a close fight, he’ll take over the next two rounds.

Best Bet: Jim Miller ML (-255)

Here’s my UFC Vegas 74 free pick for the prelims:

Daniel Santos vs. Johnny Munoz Free Pick

Fight Odds: Santos (-238) vs. Munoz (+188)

Daniel Santos (11-2) has never been stopped. He’s 1-1 in the UFC. He lost his debut to Julio Arce (Dec), but he bounced back with a win against John Castaneda (KO). He hasn’t fought yet this year.

Johnny Munoz Jr. (12-2) is 2-2 in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2020. Like Santos, Munoz went 1-1 in 2022. He lost to Tony Gravely (KO) and defeated Liudvik Sholinian (Dec).

Santos has six career TKO/KO wins. He pressures his opponents with forward movement and active hands. Santos averages 4.82 SLpM, while Munoz averages 3.69 SLpM. The problem for Santos has been his striking defense (7.52 SApM), but Munoz doesn’t have a strong stand-up game.

Best Bet: Daniel Santos ML (-238)

UFC Vegas 74 Picks and Parlay

Lastly, I’ll leave you with the best UFC Vegas 74 banker bet for parlays:

Jamie Mullarkey vs. Muhammadjon Naimov Free Pick

Fight Odds: Mullarkey (-422) vs. Naimov (+307)

Jamie Mullarkey (16-5) is only 4-3 in the UFC, but he has been improving. Mullarkey lost his first two UFC fights, but he’s 4-1 since with the lone loss against Jalin Turner. He’s on a two-fight win streak.

Muhammadjon Naimov (8-2) is making his UFC debut. He lost to Collin Anglin in Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020. Since then, he has gone 1-1 with Titan FC and 2-0 with Tuff-N-Uff.

Mullarkey has power (10 TKO/KO wins) and the tank to win decisions. Naimov hasn’t fought anyone on the level of Mullarkey. He also took this fight on very short notice, which doesn’t bode well for him.

I recommend using Mullarkey as a banker bet for your UFC Vegas 74 parlays this weekend.

Best Bet: Jamie Mullarkey ML (-422)
