Sabalenka and Andreeva Set for Semifinal Clash in Brisbane
Top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and No. 8 seed Mirra Andreeva of Russia are set to face off in the semifinals of the Brisbane International on Saturday. Both players advanced on Friday with straight-set victories in the WTA 500 event’s quarterfinals.
Sabalenka dispatched unseeded Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4, requiring 1 hour and 44 minutes to seal the win. Andreeva, meanwhile, overcame Ons Jabeur of Tunisia 6-4, 7-6 (2), saving two set points in the process.
Sabalenka holds a 2-1 record against Andreeva in head-to-head matches, with all previous encounters taking place on clay. Andreeva’s sole win came in the 2024 French Open quarterfinals.
In the other semifinal, Russia’s Polina Kudermetova will meet Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina. Kudermetova defeated Ashlyn Krueger 7-6 (5), 6-3, while Kalinina battled past Australian favorite Kimberly Birrell 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Osaka Overcomes Early Setback to Reach ASB Classic Semifinals
Seventh-seeded Naomi Osaka of Japan rallied from a set down to defeat Hailey Baptiste 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-2 and book her spot in the ASB Classic semifinals in Auckland, New Zealand.
Osaka fired 10 aces and converted six of 12 break points in a match lasting just over two hours. She will face the winner of an all-American quarterfinal between No. 8 seed Katie Volynets and Alycia Parks, which was delayed due to rain.
In another rain-affected quarterfinal, No. 5 Clara Tauson of Denmark was leading No. 1 seed Madison Keys 6-4, 3-4 when play was suspended. The winner will advance to face Robin Montgomery, who secured her first tour-level semifinal berth with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over fellow American Bernarda Pera.
