Pegula Cruises in Charleston as Bouzkova Dominates in Bogota

Top-seeded Jessica Pegula wasted no time on Wednesday at the Charleston Open, crushing Belarus’ Iryna Shymanovich 6-0, 6-3 in just 71 minutes. The American, coming off a finals loss to Aryna Sabalenka at the Miami Open, looked dialed in during her Charleston debut after a first-round bye.

Pegula was clinical on return, converting all six break-point chances, and easily overcame a low 53% first-serve percentage. This kind of dominance underscores her top-seed status and signals she’s ready for another deep run.
