Top seed Jessica Pegula made quick work of Spain’s Nuria Parrizas-Diaz on Wednesday, rolling to a 6-1, 6-3 victory while never facing a break point. Pegula won 18 of her 20 first-serve points and now advances to the quarterfinals to meet Russia’s Anna Blinkova, who also cruised in a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Germany’s Tatjana Maria.

Elsewhere, fifth-seeded McCartney Kessler topped Viktorija Golubic (Switzerland) 6-2, 7-5, while Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic staged a comeback for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory against Great Britain’s Jodie Burrage. The late match featured Australia’s Kimberly Birrell taking on Japan’s Ena Shihahara.
