How to Bet on Soccer

Regardless of your experience level, there is always something to learn about soccer betting.

The majority of the world’s population refers to soccer as futbol. Compared to the major North American professional sports (NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA), soccer has the most leagues worldwide. Because there are so many leagues, gamblers can typically get action on a game somewhere in the world.

The English Premier League is one of the more well-known soccer leagues. Other top-tier leagues include the Spanish La Biga and Germany’s Bundesliga. Major League Soccer (MLS) has gained in popularity in North America over the past few years. Bettors can find action in all of these leagues.

Soccer betting is similar to that of other sports. There are some notable variations, however, so a new soccer bettor must first learn the bets themselves. You must first get accustomed to the different soccer wagers if you are unfamiliar with them. Understand the mechanics of each bet, like Draw No Bet.

The three-way moneyline is something that most football and basketball bettors don’t know much about. It’s a common soccer bet as is the Double Chance bet. Bettors can wager on a team to win or draw, the other team to win or draw, or on either team to win.

Like any sport, bettors have to know what they are getting into if they are planning on having success. Sports Hub can help with that.

Soccer Betting Odds

Like other sports, there are a number of different markets where soccer bettors can place bets. The most common is a bet on the moneyline. It’s still moneyline betting, but in soccer there are three potential outcomes – Team A wins, Team B wins, or a Draw.

When betting the three-way moneyline, bettors are gambling on a team to win or the teams to play to a tie. Ties don’t occur – or are very rare as in the NFL – in the North American major sports.

Regardless, all three options in the three-way moneyline are given odds. Here’s an example.

  • Team A +115
  • Team B +205
  • Draw +225

One of the keys to success in soccer betting is simply understanding how to read and understand the odds. In this case, Team A is given +115 odds to win. They are the favorite in this match and if you like them to win, you can win $115 on a $100 bet.

The underdog, Team B, is listed at +205. That means a $100 bet pays out a profit of $205. The teams could play to a draw. That is the least likely outcome according to the odds. You could win $225 on a $100 bet if the teams end up tied.

There are plenty of other categories – Double Chance, Asian Handicap, etc. – where soccer bettors can place wagers. The key is understanding the bet and how to read and analyze odds in an effort to find betting value. Soccer Betting FAQ

How does soccer betting work?

In its most basic form, betting on soccer requires you to predict whether Team A will win, Team B will win or both teams will draw. However, there are lots of other ways to bet on soccer. It’s important to learn the rules for any betting market you’re interested in wagering on if you want to succeed.

What is double chance in soccer betting?

Double chance is a type of betting market available for soccer. The 1×2 market has three options (home win, away win or draw). With the double chance market, you can bet on two of the three 1×2 options. For example, you can bet on home win / away win, home win / draw or away win / draw. If you bet on home win / away win, the bet will win as long as one of the teams wins the match and it doesn’t end in a draw.

When betting futbol, what does draw no bet mean?

Draw no bet (DNB) is a type of soccer betting market that eliminates the draw. When betting on a match the most common market is 1×2 (home win / draw / away win). In the DNB market, the only options are home win or away win. If the match ends in a draw, the bet will push (tie) and your bet is returned. The payout odds are worse than picking a team to win in the 1×2 market, but a draw doesn’t result in a loss.

How to read soccer betting lines?

New soccer bettors need to know how to read soccer betting lines. Here’s an example of a 1×2 bet: Leeds (+290) / Draw (+290) / Liverpool (-110). The easiest way to read soccer betting lines is to remember that positive odds equal how much you’ll win on a $100 bet and negative odds equal how much you need to bet to win $100. For example, Leeds at +290 means you’d win $290 profit on a $100 bet. In order to win $100 on Liverpool, you’d be required to wager $110 due to the -110 odds.

What are some important factors to consider when betting on soccer?

There are several factors to consider when betting on soccer, including:
– Avoid following the public.
– Don’t bet with emotions.
– Line shop at different bookmakers.
– Pay attention to different betting markets.
– Track your bets (use Sports Hub to do this).
